Privacy Policy

Privacy is the foundation of Grateful to You. The app is designed so that we could not read your journal even if we wanted to: there is no account, no server holding your entries, and no tracking. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does with your data.

The short version

• Your journal — the people you write about and the moments you record — is stored only on your device.
• Nothing you write leaves your device unless you explicitly share a letter.
• There is no account and no sign-in. We cannot identify you.
• We collect only anonymous usage statistics (for example, how often a feature is used) with no journal content and no personal information.

Your journal stays on your device

Everything you write in Grateful to You — names, moments, streaks, and letters — is stored in a local database on your iPhone. Grateful to You works fully offline. We operate no server that receives, stores, or processes your journal.

Sharing letters

When you choose to share a gratitude letter, the letter text is handed to the standard iOS share sheet, and you decide where it goes (for example, Messages or Mail). Sharing is always an explicit action you take; the app never sends anything on its own.

Reminders

The optional daily reminder is a local notification, scheduled entirely on your device. No reminder data is sent anywhere. Reminders may mention the names of people you journal about; a setting lets you keep reminder wording generic instead.

PIN lock

If you enable the optional PIN lock, your PIN is stored in the device Keychain, Apple's secure storage. It is never included in analytics, backups we can see, or any network request.

iCloud Sync & Backup

If you purchase iCloud Sync & Backup, your journal syncs between your own iOS devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple's infrastructure. Your data goes to your iCloud, not to us — we have no access to it. Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy apply to that storage.

Purchases

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. A record of what the app has unlocked is kept on your device.

Anonymous usage statistics

To understand which features are useful, the app sends anonymous usage signals (such as "a moment was written down" or "a letter was created") to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service that anonymizes data before storing it. These signals contain counts and settings states only — never journal content, names, or anything that identifies you. They are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking or advertising.

What we never collect

• Your journal entries or the names of people you write about
• Your name, email address, contacts, location, or any other personal information
• Advertising identifiers, and we never track you across apps or websites

Children

Grateful to You is not directed at children under 13 and, by design, collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If Grateful to You ever changes in a way that affects your privacy — for example, a feature that processes data off your device — this policy will be updated first, and the change will be clearly disclosed in the app before anything is sent.
